HOW WE RESPONDED IN HAITI
DWR worked in Haiti for 3 years carrying out a demolition, debris and solid waste programme that transformed the lives of the disaster-affected community:
- 130,000 tonnes of debris was removed, of which three quarters of this amount was re-used for reconstruction and development
- $800,000 of machinery was provided
- Over 110,000 hours of paid work was generated; helping families in the community lift themselves out of crisis
- Public health secured by clearing drains, benefiting 60,000 people.
